Foxx files for re-election
February 8, 2010
Boone, NC—U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx today filed for re-election at the Watauga County Board of Elections. She will be running for re-election in North Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District, which she has represented in Congress since 2005.
“North Carolinians want someone in Washington who will fight to ensure their tax dollars are spent wisely and not wasted,” Foxx said. “With Washington under the control of big-spending liberals we have seen our deficits explode and our debt skyrocket. I promise to fight Washington’s wasteful ways and help return us to the limited federal government our founders envisioned.”
Foxx is a strong proponent of keeping taxes low and ensuring that the government lives within its means. In fact, last year Foxx opposed massive new spending programs like the trillion dollar stimulus package and a costly 2,000-page healthcare bill. Also, Foxx successfully shepherded a bill through Congress during her third term that improves on-base housing for soldiers in the Army.
“This year we are witnessing record-breaking spending and record-breaking deficits,’ Foxx said. “There is no reason Washington can’t live within its means, just like every responsible taxpayer in North Carolina.
“In addition to ensuring Washington learns to stick to a budget, I will also continue to work to keep North Carolinians safe from the threat of terrorists who wish to destroy our freedoms and way of life.
“It’s time for conservative solutions that solve problems without growing government and creating debt. As a small-government conservative, I will oppose Washington’s liberal agenda and fight to preserve freedom and keep big government at bay.”
